Smaragd Cedars
Our Smaragd cedars are grown in the field from young plants to maturity, which results in a very good adaptation to our climate. In addition, we prune them to obtain a unique trunk in order to increase their resistance to snow accumulation, which also allows them to maintain their characteristic conical shape. Our Smaragd are sold in containers or small skewer baskets to make planting easier. Available heights range from 1.25 m to 1.75 m (4' to 6').
We sow strips of grass between the rows to limit erosion and recycle fertilizing elements. This practice improves the quality of the soil, which makes our cedars more resilient and increases their growth rate. In 2024 and 2025, we will participate in a fertilization trial in partnership with the Quebec Institute for the Development of Ornamental Horticulture (IQDHO).
This project aims to determine the optimal application methods and quantities of fertilizer for this crop. The knowledge generated by this project will allow us to be even more precise in our cultivation operations.
